Tesla’s Free Supercharging Competition
In June 2026 Tesla published the rules for its Free Supercharging Competition: nine winners worldwide, three categories, three regions, one calendar year of charging. This page is the short version of those terms.

The prize
Free Supercharging, for as long as you keep the car
Not a year of charging. Not a credit. The winning vehicle Supercharges free until the winner sells it or the lease ends.
- Nine winners worldwide — one per category, per region — announced in January 2027.
- The prize is free Supercharging for the winning vehicle, for as long as the winner owns or leases it.
- It gets applied to the vehicle before March 1, 2027.
- It’s tied to the winner’s Tesla account and the vehicle’s VIN. It doesn’t transfer to a new owner or a new car.
- It’s valid at Tesla-owned Supercharger sites only.
- Idle fees and congestion fees still apply.
The bracket
Three categories, three regions
Nine prizes total: each category has one winner in each region. You compete in all three categories at once — but you can only win one.

This attempt
Longest Trip
The longest streak of unique Supercharger sites. Each new site has to start a charging session within 24 hours of the START of the session at the previous unique site — the clock runs start to start.

Most Unique Sites
The most distinct Supercharger sites visited across the year. No clock attached — repeats just don’t count twice.

Most Energy
The most total energy drawn from Superchargers during the year, measured in kWh.
- Three regions: Americas · Asia-Pacific (excluding China) · EMEA, with several country carve-outs — see the official page.
- Your region isn’t where you live. It’s assigned by where you visit the most unique Supercharger sites.
- One winner per category, per region. Win one category and you’re out of the running for the other two.
- Ties are broken by total kWh charged.
The scoring window
Calendar 2026, start to finish
Scoring didn’t start when Tesla announced the competition. It started on New Year’s Day.
- The window is January 1 through December 31, 2026, local time.
- Every 2026 Supercharger session counts — including sessions from before Tesla announced the competition in June.
- A new VIN starts from zero. Charging history doesn’t follow you between vehicles — which is why this campaign starts the day the new truck is delivered.
How you enroll
Three steps, no signup form
Enrollment happens in the vehicle and in the Tesla app. Miss the last step and a year of charging goes unscored.
Step 01
Turn on data sharing
In the vehicle, enable “Share Charging Data with Tesla App.” Without it, sessions don’t count toward the competition.
Step 02
Open the 2026 Charging Passport
It launches in the Tesla app in December 2026. Opening it is the enrollment step — there’s no separate signup form.
Step 03
Open it again after your last session
Stats lock at the last time you open the Passport before January 1, 2027. Final session of the year, then one more open.
Who can’t win
The exclusions
A few groups are out before the year starts. Everyone else with a 2026 Supercharger session is in.
- Vehicles that already have free Supercharging.
- Vehicles in commercial use — taxi, rideshare, delivery.
- Tesla employees and their immediate family.
- Residents of countries outside the three competition regions.
